The mission statement was followed by the teachers while the children were in the child care center. When Pat Schoenbeck and Ann Cook left, the parents had sent a letter to the Dean of Students regarding the new faculty and how they better still follow the current mission statement that was in place.
Bible verses and parts of scripture were found throughout the archives on various topics regarding the Child Care Center. A main portion of the scripture was found on the funding topics. As funding was a huge issue during the life of the center fundraising and the search for donations was required. Below you see a outline of a letter than was handed out while looking for donations. On the letter, one will see that it gives principles of the giver and guidelines for the fundraising event. Along with the principles, it is outlined with a scripture for each bullet point.
I found this very interesting being at UWGB, as it is a public school yet is promoting the scriptures when seeking for donations and when attending fundraising events.
The evaluation process would happen semi-annually. The faculty would evaluate the student-employees and the students would then evaluate the faculty on their performance throughout the semester. Below is a process they used to see which route to take for the following semester. Each question on the evaluation form had a ‘yes’ or ‘no’ answer which then lead to another set of questions.
Noted with this evaluation sheet was a statement that UWGB’s Childcare Center was one of the highest quality childcare centers in the Northeastern part of Wisconsin. Also found that the Childcare Center was a special and unique service that the university offers to the students and faculty, primarily women.
Model of Child Care Center
This is a model layout of how child care services is supposed to work and the descriptions of each different level of child care. At the UWGB Children’s Center, it seems to be a mix of laboratory preschool and comprehensive service model.
The laboratory preschool is mainly contributes to research in the disciplines related to young children and provides a model for the school programs as the students are learning in the classrooms. This a main source to maximize student and faculty participation within the university.
The comprehensive model provides quality child care for children of the university staff, students and faculty. The secondary goals are to facilitate educational and research opportunities for students and faculty members.
An advantage here would be how the University’s committed to the women on campus through helping them and aiding them in their education and employment.
In ending, one thing I found intriguing was that there was scriptures included in the letters handed out to the public at the fundraising events! Growing up, I did go to public schools for elementary and middle school but then ended up going to a private school in Milwaukee for high school. Most public schools would not have been okay with this taking place. Each principle and guideline on the letter had a verse or two directly from the Bible.
